Over Archival Consciousness

Archival Consciousness was initiated by Mariana Lanari and Remco van Bladel as a collaborative practice working with libraries and archives in cultural institutions. In close collaboration with archivists, they develop methods and infrastructure that make collections more accessible. Archival Consciousness focuses on the long-term preservation and dissemination of physical archives in relation to the digital archive. The digital component of archives, particularly their databases, forms the starting point of the practice. Archival Consciousness is developing a shared, community-oriented Knowledge Graph that functions as an interaction layer on top of existing library and archive databases, facilitating discovery, browsing, and navigation.
